VA Pension Benefits

VA Pension Benefits
At Flowers Law Firm, we are dedicated to assisting veterans and their families in securing VA Pension benefits, which provide financial support for veterans who are disabled or elderly and meet certain income and service requirements. Led by Attorney Warren Flowers, our firm is committed to helping veterans navigate the complexities of the VA Pension program to ensure they receive the benefits they deserve.
What Are VA Pension Benefits?
VA Pension benefits are a need-based financial assistance program designed to help veterans who served during wartime and have limited income and resources. These benefits provide monthly payments to veterans who are either:
- Age 65 or older, or
- Totally and permanently disabled, regardless of age, and whose disability is not related to military service.
Eligibility for VA Pension Benefits

To qualify for VA Pension benefits, veterans must meet specific eligibility requirements:
- Service Requirements: Veterans must have served at least 90 days of active duty, with at least one day during a wartime period, and were honorably discharged.
- Income and Net Worth Limits: Pension benefits are intended for veterans with limited income and resources. The VA evaluates your income, assets, and household expenses to determine eligibility. Veterans must have less than the VA’s established income and net worth limits to qualify.
- Permanent and Total Disability or Age 65+: Veterans who are under age 65 must be permanently and totally disabled due to any cause (service-connected or not). Veterans age 65 or older are automatically eligible for pension benefits, even without a disability.
Types of VA Pension Benefits
VA Pension benefits may include different programs based on the veteran’s specific circumstances:
- Basic Pension: Monthly payments for eligible veterans based on income, net worth, and medical expenses.
- Housebound Benefits: Additional benefits for veterans who are permanently confined to their home due to a disability.
- Aid and Attendance (A&A): An enhanced pension for veterans who require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, or eating, or who are bedridden or in need of nursing home care.
